The local streets in my neighborhood are bumpy to drive on and dangerous to walk on. I take my Stormy Kromer Cap off to those brave soles who are biking.
I suspect that our road crews are getting tired. Personally, I remain troubled by the amount of salt we are applying and the damage it does to our water resources. In normal times Madison had the advantage of more consistently cold temperatures, which avoided the thaw and freeze cycle that makes roads and sidewalks so perilous. D.C. would get snow, which would melt, then freeze, making for awful conditions. This winter we've had the pleasure of constant up and down jags in temperature and, recently, frequent precipitation of every variety. So our usual advantage has been nullified.
