The Military Ridge Path (formerly but now incorrectly called the
"Cannonball Path") from McKee Road north to the next private road
crossing will be closed on Monday, August 11 and Tuesday, August 12.
"Bike path closed" barricades will be in place. Use alternate routes
such as the Badger State Trail and McKee Rd bike lanes. During this
time, clearing of brush and vegetation will take place.
Due to the pending construction of Spoke Dr, this area is currently
unpaved gravel, and was only useful to hikers and off-road bicyclists,
so this is not too big a deal. The Cannonball Path is paved, smooth,
wide, and ready for use between the "bicycle interchange" (junction of
the Military Ridge, Southwest, and Cannonball paths and the Capital City
and Badger State Trails) and the north Beltline frontage road via the
"white bridge". This includes the new bike/ped refuge at the Seminole
Highway crossing and the new boardwalk access between the Cannonball
Path and the Belmar Hill neighborhood.
Restrooms are also now open at the Dawley Bike Hub south of Dunn's
Marsh, joining bike and auto parking, pump and repair stand, bubbler and
water bottle filler, and benches and patio with a beautiful view of the
Marsh.
