TB unfortunately is not a mature candidate for an IMAP client, lacking much use of the protocol. I know this does not do you any good at the present. This does not occur with Mulberry or The Bat however, and the client opens at will.
Hmm, I can't let that pass - recent versions of TB (0.7, 0.8 betas) have been working very well for my company, with Binc. There were some difficulties in earlier versions of TB + Binc, but they seem very stable together now.
Thought I'd throw in my 2 off-topic cents ... I'm a big fan of TB.
