Can you check that you have the latest version of bytecode.jar. It's CVS revision 1.8 in biojava-live, and should be 63,731 bytes long. If the version in biojava-live is okay, could you make sure you don't have any older copies on your CLASSPATH or in the Java extensions directory (${JAVA_HOME}/jre/lib/ext/ on Unix, can't remember the exact name on OSX).
