Have you read much of his stuff? I have only read his Thinking In Java book, and think it is the best written introduction to Java for inexperienced programmers i've seen. I tried reading the Thinking In Patterns book, but by that time it was a little dumbed down for my taste. So i agree partially, if you're already a competent programmer in C++/Java or any other OO language, then his books will probably not be that useful, but if you're just beginning, the Thinking In Java is a great starting point. Speaking of dudes with big opinions of themselves, the guy that bugs me the most is Phil Greenspun. A couple of the things he's got up on his site are really useful resources for how to do stuff, but you have to wade through all the 'and this once again proves how great i am' crap first. > Marc> Also, python sucks. Yeah really, if you make a language that simple, how are you gonna keep the riffraff out? > Marc> ps. Also, the reply-to setting sucks. agreed. I vote we break from The Right Thing(tm) approach, and fix the reply-to > so flexible... I mean, when was the last time you wrapped your > favorite OO C++ library (with templates, virtual functions and > overloaded member funcs) in perl? Or accessed a perl object a Java class? -Lkb _______________________________________________ Bits mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.sugoi.org/mailman/listinfo/bits
