Oh, please, as if such intelligent, cultured, erudite, pious white men
could have learned anything from a bunch of half-naked red-skinned
heathen?

But seriously, my understanding is that Jefferson and co. drew many
practical lessons from the Iroquois confedaracy, but drew the theoretical
underpinning for their work almost entirely from classic political
thought.
