I've used a crossover cable and enabled "Internet Connection Sharing" on the wireless adapter in my XP laptop, it worked well for me.

I also tried a USB to ethernet dongle plugged into an IP phone and that worked too.

You may have to turn off your Windows firewall for this or configure SIP services under advanced settings

Hi all,

Sorry if this question sounds a bit silly:

But is it possible to use a not wireless VoIP phone (such as Aastra
9133i) in a non-wired environment? I am thinking maybe somehow
attaching it to my wireless laptop but I dont know if my laptop would
work the same as a router.

So anyway of doing it or am I dreaming? ;) Thanks in advance.

p.s. i am trying to experiment ;) as one of the working facilities
where I work at does not any wiring whatsoever. so i am trying to save
money instead of buying 100ft cable ;)
p.s.s. ... and also I am aware that you can install a soft phone on
the laptop ;)
