There are a few ways to do this...

Right now I have these lines in my .blackboxrc file

session.styleFile:      /home/tigmoid/.blackbox/styles/mine
session.menuFile:       /home/tigmoid/.blackbox/menu

in my styles file

I have the following line

rootCommand:    Esetroot -c ~/images/fluorescence6.jpg

Which gives me a nice shroomy background to run a transparent Eterm on.

Else you can use one of the default styles to set itself and then have
this line in your menu file (at the beginning).

[exec] (Set Background) {Esetroot -c ~/images/fluorescence6.jpg}
        Or call a script that you've previously written.

Granted it took a while for me to figure out how to get the styles thing
to work right (that was a while ago, back before Sean had code control).

I'm not, technically, at my computer right now, so I can't try out the
.xinitrc .xsession ideas (perhaps something with wait()?)

but anyways, hth,
