OK, maybe I didn't express that aspect of the situation very well. The
online info I was referring to didn't distinguish between startx and
xdm (etc). Nevertheless, my point is that putting stuff in .Xclients
or .xsession doesn't work with my Mandrake 7.0/Blackbox system.
