Its very difficult to understand what you are describing. And it's
always good to report the version numbers of programs and operating
systems you're using, when you report any problem.
Maybe the action Always Open Type With... is ranked higher than Open
so that's why it's showing up? Change that in the action preferences.
Sometimes URLs and folders get confused and unchecking Recent Items in
the User section of the Catalog has helped. (Also Recent Objects in
the Quicksilver section).
If it's something else, please describe it more clearly.
