I've cracked it! Turns out that my main document folder always was located *within* the default Documents folder. When I salvaged it from the Trash, I had put it in "users/myname". There, QS could not find it... but now, back within Documents, it is finding everything and opening everything again... What a relief!! Thanks for your help.
