Thanks for all the responses. The app support folder is there, in the home folder. I fully understand what ~ means. I found a thread on here (or perhaps on another mac forum) that advised how to do a thorough uninstall of Quicksilver after using the uninstall feature, which specified other folders to trash afterwards. I lost that bookmark, I don't recall what ones they were. Regardless, I have installed and uninstalled several times since then.
But now things are cool. As with most things on the mac, one door opens and another closes. I have made more than enough attempts to correct whatever failings this little program might have. But it still is functioning, the launchbar still works, and I have adjusted to not having the triggers any more. Quicksilver, for the most part, does what it's supposed to do. For a free program I can't expect the world, can I? It makes life easier, in the end. Thanks for all your help, it is truly gratifying to know if something else goes wrong there are knowledgeable, patient, and friendly souls out there who have the goods. All the best.
