My suggestion is to forget about the services menu entry and the ⌘G

I did this for a long time, with one exception.
One of the problems I encountered was that in OmniWeb, "Command Window
with Selection" would grab the URL of the current page instead of the
selected text. I got around this by setting the scope for the trigger
to Finder and Path Finder, since the default ⌘Esc in the Services
menu seemed to work fine everywhere else. As we all know, scopes fall
down go boom in 10.5, so now I just live without the trigger and use
⌘G in the rare case that I need to grab multiple file in the Finder.
It's possible that OmniWeb is the only application that has a problem
with the trigger, so if you never use it, you're probably fine letting
it be active in all apps.

Don't try to tell me a thing is important to you if the whole of your
"support" entails forcing other to spend time and money on it.
