I had been having this issue for a couple of days, as well. QS was suddenly dog slow, and eating up 1/2 a gig of RAM on startup.
I went into the ~/Library/Caches/Quicksilver/Indexes directory, and found a 141MB index file. I deleted it, and QS is now back to its snappy self.
