You could maybe try dropping back to b54 maybe. I know when I used b58
I found it quite laggy. It's one of the reasons I went back to b54.

The only problem is that you lose access to the preferences panel but
you can still edit triggers, plugins & catalogue. The only plugin I
use that isn't mutually compatible is BezelHUD, so if you try this &
use bezelHUD drag it out of ~/Library/Application Support/Plugins
first. If rolling back to b54 solves your problem you can replace it
with the old bezelHUD plugin from pre snow leopard.
