Found it! Strange indeed. The problem was in the triggers.plist file. Previously the Triggers page said "Open iCal" and Trigger F1. After following the procedure on the page you pointed to, when I got to putting that file back, I looked at the triggers page and the line had changed to: Open http:/home.netscape.com/bookmark/7_1bcalendar.html
which is a web page I've never visited. Anyway, it's fixed now. Thanks for your help!
