Patrick,

I've checked a little more, and the answer is "many but not all." When, in
System Preferences, I "click the lock to make changes," things work as
usual and I don't need to quit Quicksilver. However, when I went to update
iStat Menus and was asked to enter an administrator password, I got the
same behavior I mentioned earlier until I quit Quicksilver. Also, when I
went to the Finder to delete an app, the "Finder wants to make changes"
dialog box was disrupted in the same way.

Trying to check Quicksilver's preferences I found something else that was
interesting: the Quicksilver Preferences window has the same behavior as
the password-entry dialog box. That is, it opens up unselected and when I
click inside it the focus immediately shifts to the previously used
application. I *am* able to click the "reset preferences" button (and it
highlights in blue, unhighlighting when I move the cursor off of it), but
I've held off on actually resetting the preferences in case there's
something else you'd like me to check before I try that.

By the way, I *love* Quicksilver and have been using it religiously for
years. Thank you, thank you for offering it to all of us! And thanks for
replying so quickly in support of a product I didn't even pay you for.

Norm Aleks
