Same here - I keep hearing my fans coming on, and it isn't responding. In activity monitor it is steadily hogging cpu and memory - currently at 100% CPU and 3.29 Gb of memory and climbing 0.1Gb about every ten seconds. Again, this happened after the safari 2.3.1 update a few days ago. I keep having to kill it and restart it. It will behave for about 3 hours then start up again (not doing anything at all, just sitting in the background without being used).
