I think it should be a preference and those are fine defaults, though it should also allow whatever Safari is set for. Safari has a preference for when history should be deleted, I had it set for after one week, but I'm not sure what the default is. Do we have a suggestion for max number of items in the catalog? Has it changed since 10 years ago (I think then the suggestion was about 5000 items)? Is the limiting factor memory/cpu (which should have changed over time) or something algorithmic?
