Are you sure we can do this? HAL has some pretty steep requirements. 0.5.5.1 is better than 0.5.7, but this is from the NEWS file: Requirements for HAL 0.5.5 "I want you to see what he's got under his fingernail s." - Linux 2.6.13 or later - udev 071 or later (using udevsend as hotplug multiplexer) - dbus 0.50 or later (with glib bindings) First one. Are we going to suggest a kernel upgrade? It's not done anywhere else in the book. I'm OK if that's how we want to go. I just upgraded to the udev_update branch solely for the 0.5.7 requirements (0.5.6 is a typo): Requirements for HAL 0.5.6 "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." - Linux kernel >= 2.6.15 - util-linux >= 2.13 - bash >= 2.0 - udev >= 078 (using udevsend as hotplug multiplexer) - dbus >= 0.60 (with glib bindings) Just something to think about. -- Dan -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-book FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
