Being one that has really never had to set any character set, I
must be using whatever is the Linux default (ISO-8859-1 ?). I don't
set anything, and everything 'just works'. So I suppose you'll have
to tell me how to determine exactly what character set is the
default for X Windows. Most of my BLFS editing work is done via
remote xterm sessions, and not using a console GUI.
