The lcms part is sorted, and along the way I've learned that 'make cups'
is a dependency of 'make so', therefore the distros that do it as a
separate step are being unnecessary. More importantly, both 'make so' and
'make soinstall' (and probably 'make install') ALL need the overrides.
So, once the correct magic words have been established, a sed after
running configure looks a better way to go.
