I suppose it isn't a bad thing to revisit this issue every once in a
while. I'm for keeping both in the book. But I'm also basing my
decision on the fact that the 6.9 version will be pulled out
eventually. I would rather not remove both version that have a simple
build method.
I also would love to see XFree go away, but that's just my opinion.
The way it is, though, as long as some editor is willing to step to
the plate and tackle the XFree package, then it should probably stay
in the book. I don't know what the stats are on this, but I think
there's a significant amount of people here in both the modular and
monolithic build camps.
And as Randy said, Xorg-6.9 is in maintenance mode only now. So, that
would leave XFree as the monolithic build of choice as long as
development continues. In that case, it should stay in the book if
there's an editor to support it.
