I mentioned before that I dislike sourceforge. I just had another instance as to why. I was updating the master files repository with virtuoso-opensource-6.1.6.tar.gz. That's about 115 MB. The download speed was generally less than 200 KB/sec. Sometimes as low as 15 KB/sec. In this case, it took 10 minutes.
The problem does not occur on other sites. The kernel, for instance will download at over 1 MB/second. GNU sites, debian, mozilla, and almost all other sites offer good download speed. I'd like to request that editors try to find alternative sites to sourceforge. If that's the only site available, please offer anduin as an alternate source. Generally, I update the master files repo every morning and anduin rsyncs to the master twice a day (7:07 AM and PM GMT) from the changes committed the previous day. -- Bruce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
