There have so-far been two runtime issues while I'm testing my
current tex-test scripts on recent distro versions (i.e. with 2014
texlive)¹ :

1. Context, as noted, is sometimes broken and craps out if you run
'context --version'.

2. My xindy test fails to produce an index. For this, my
last-released tex-test scripts at ~ken/ have a test called 'make
encyclopedium'. My current latest-and-greatest tests have been
overhauled and expanded, but are not yet ready for an -rc release.
For that test, my current changes do not really alter what the test
does. Deps in the released version are a desktop with fontconfig
and a PDF viewer (mupdf or xpdf are adequate), and DejaVu (or gnu
freefont). Within tex, it uses lualatex so that it can use
fontspec.

From memory, the command runs lualatex, xindy, lualatex on the
supplied file. If it works, the PDF has four pages (the fourth is
the index), if not it only has three.

[1.] Going back before 2013, with my _current_ scripts, things
started to fall apart. Luaotfload-tool seems to be a fairly recent
addition, meaning that lualatex does not always find fontconfig
fonts in my tests.

Sometimes she went to bed as early as 6 a.m.
