At the moment, I do not think rules or plka files are the problem.

I will also note that startlxqt might have a similar problem - I got
that running last night (with fluxbox, and in /usr) and the main
menu has options to logout, restart, power off, suspend, hibernate.
Only logout works for me.

I have not looked at that yet, thanks for the reminder - that
machine is where I'm testing lxqt : I've got a few packages to
rebuild so that I can see if my added definitions (to force lib) are
actually needed (I threw them in as a matter of course). And I'll
now build openbox (tried it in the past, did not see any benefit)
just in case it solves some of the issues (primarily, invisible
launcher or runner, and invisible clock : if I mouse over wherever
the clock is, I get a 'hint' showing date and time).

I'll also be looking at my suspended kf5 build now that Bruce has
given me a suggestion.

I tried 'ck-launch-session sddm', then 'ck-launch-session
dbus-launch sddm'. The added dbus-launch did not make any
difference.
