Nice of them to say something about it (not).
I already had libcanberra installed so there was no problem for me, but
there is no INSTALL file that mentions requirements and configure --help
does not mention it. The only way to know that is to not have it when
attempting to build.
I don't know what you are using pavucontrol for, but it was added for
xfce (xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin) and libcanberra is recommended for
xfce4-settings.
I'll add it.
