MTA problem ? In an infinite universe, anything is possible. In an infinite universe populated by fools like me, everything is possible :) I don't have a nice supportive infrastructure on that box, but I can just about send emails with nail. And anyway, the other script which uses 'mail' to only report errors is successfully doing that. I'll go away and think about whether it might be the MTA, thanks for your confirmation that the fcrontab looks tolerable. No DNS server here, that is way beyond my current needs (and somewhat hard going without a real domain, I think).
