You should not be having these issues. You put *so much* stuff in
your email that I could not decipher it at all. Is there any way you
could consolidate what you feel is the important part of all that
stuff?
Though I like Totem for watching DVD movies, I've never had an
issue with MPlayer. I just prefer Totem's interface better. Has
a previous installation worked in the past? Have you done anything
different with the MPlayer installation? Are you using stable
versions of *all* dependency packages?
I feel confident in saying that you shouldn't be having these
issues as I have in the very recent past, viewed, recorded,
duplicated, and done just about anything you could imagine with
DVD's using a {B}LFS system.
