I'm unfamiliar with NVIDIA's butchering of your system...same for ATI. I run a Radeon 7000. I don't need the proprietary drivers. I do know that you will need to have both libdrm and mesa installed to build portions of xorg-server. I highlighted the missing products a month or so ago on blfs-dev, though I can't find the thread ATM. Without those two packages, you have no indirect rendering and no xprint as a result. There were other missing parts as well, though I don't recall what they were. As far as linux-dri target for mesa.... I've not tried linux-x86. but it looks to be correct. libdrm may not be required in this case...I don't honestly know. NVIDIA provides their own module, but what it needs is what I don't know. If you follow the instructions in the book, libdrm is required. Has this ever been handled in the mono tree? I don't think it was so you will be traveling into uncharted territory if you go that route. My personal suggestion is to follow the book and then rip out the parts you don't need, as we can say for certain that this method does work. I don't have the hardware to test ATM...but I just might give NVIDIA a try when I build my next two boxes in a couple of weeks. -- DJ Lucas -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
