I don't have access to a ppc
I don't build like (b)lfs anymore
I don't [fill in what you think might fit]
so don't blame me if I tell something wrong :-)

O.K. I suggest you have many modes to switch to ...
I also think you take a close look at Xorg.[any].log
did you try some other keyboards?
did you chek the keys with xev?
don't you think you need xkbcomp?
