Since my last response I've built, and rebuilt, 7.1 at least six
times on different architectures, adding more and more of the things
I'd originally omitted, with no joy. Today, I decided to move on and
build my preferred wm (icewm) and, much to my surprise, alt-tab is
working fine (this is on x86, but *every* arch was behaving the same
way). What is more, so is ctrl-alt-{-,+} - at least, using the
numeric keypad - just rechecked on ppc64, confirmed it didn't work
with mwm (from lesstif) and the numeric keypad, built a 32-bit
icewm, joy!
Maybe I'm getting old and forgetting how things are supposed to
work. Maybe I'm imagining that I used to use mwm as a temporary wm
because it had working alt-tab (unlike twm). Unfortunately, I can't
ditch lesstif in a fit of pique because I have to build it for xpdf.
Thanks for listening, you've made a somewhat happier man feel very
old :)
