For a kernel version that new (anything since 2.6.15, I think), you'll need a much newer version of udev, along with the udev scripts and bootscripts from the development version of the book. Basically, hotplug is gone, with module loading now being done by udev. See the development version of the book for details, but basically you'll want to install the new udev, replace the older udev config file with the new ones, and replace your existing bootscripts with the newest ones. I think that's all, though someone else might think of something I've missed. Simon.
