 In passing, can I ask you to consider fixing your mailer to not put
everything into a single incredibly long line ?  And perhaps you
yourself could break it into paragraphs, it would make it a lot
easier to read.  Thanks.

 Upgrading X on a running system is not very common - most LFS users
will only upgrade X when we rebuild the system.  6.9.0 implies it is
in /usr/X11R6, but with 7.1 you might have installed it in /usr.

 Most of us will think that 2.6.13.1 is an _old_ kernel, but X-7.1
means you are following the development version of BLFS.  I'm glad
that reverting to 6.9.0 fixed your problems, but being able to
revert is not common, so perhaps you should be clear about exactly
what you are doinj - what is your host system, and where did you
install 6.9 and 7.1 ?
