What I am wondering is if there are any old libs that would cause something like this to happen. I reverted back to X11R6.9.0 and everything works like tickety-boo. Because of all the work in changing I feel I'll just stay with 6.9.0 unitl I redo the whole thing.. > > Having a fun time on the electon slide > > > > Randy > > In passing, can I ask you to consider fixing your mailer to not put > everything into a single incredibly long line ? The printui portion of the program wasn't working so I thought that I could just start in the BLFS Development manual at X-Windows, grab the Xorg-7.1 and vola, maybe all would be solved. I installed all the programs as per the BLFS maual into /usr and of course I used paco to control each package. I found using paco really makes it a lot easier to back out of a problem. When I couldn't even get the X-server up and running properly I just removed everything. then I reinstalled xorg-6.9.0 in /usr/X11R6. I am using gcc-4.01 as the compiler and glibc-2.35. I probably have 90% of all the libraries that are in the maual built and installed. However some of these libraries are from older Books. I have been trying to go through the system to see if there are any residual packages from the old system and I have found one, libXau. I removed it but I am now hesitant to try out the xorg-7.1 just because of the work involved. Although at this point I have it pretty well automated. Mybe in another week or 2 I'll kick the cat again and give it another try.
