i did check the md5sums, they returned ok. What i would do normally to fix a problem of this type is to reinstall gcc and g++. So my question is, am i able to reinstall a package like gcc on my lfs without risking the system? I know that most of my questions must seem stupid and that at the moment of asking for help i leave out a lot of details that you might need, but the truth is that this is do the fact that i am a complete noob in the matter and i am under a lot or pressure in school. Lfs is a proyect that they assigned to me last semester and blfs was assigned to me this semester to be done almost entirely, this meaning the installation of almost the entire book. I have to turn this in by the end of the april and i find myself in a tight spot. So please be patient with me, and at the moment of answering anything i would really appreciate it if you can give me an example of what you mean or the way of doing what you mean. By the way, with my network interface i tried doing somethings and all i got was a warning that my eth0 was not found. I have ADSL at home with a standard ethernet NIC. If you can guide me through the steps from the beginning of a regular installation or configuration i would really appreciate it. Thankyou

From here it starts to look as if your system is toast :-( Out of interest, what would you do on any other distro ? I suppose, maybe reinstall the gcc binary package ? > > On 3/30/07, anirudh vij < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > >hi, > >>What i did was that i downloaded > >> everything and burned it on a dvd which i mounted on my blfs system and > >> copied everything in a directory. And if you refuse to tell us either *how* you connect to the network, or describe the detail of 'this also has not worked', we can't help, we're not mind readers. As Chris said (and for some reason you included this below your latest posting, although you didn't answer his questions) - > >> > >> We can't really help unless you provide more specifics. I do start to wonder if you did something odd when creating the DVD with the packages (like, perhaps, burning it from windows). To me, it seems that your first problem is to get your network working - if I had to guess, I'd guess IP over avian (rfc1149) - in that case, all I can suggest is plenty of seed and peanuts ;) ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
