It would really help if you reported what platform you are building on. Something such as LFS-6.7 or LFS-SVN, or whatever platform it is. This week I will be building the packages necessary to render the BLFS book (including the one you are having issues with). I'm using a very current LFS-SVN platform. I will report the results.
