Gconf depends on Orbit and polkit, it's not a trivial dependency.
However, the dependencies needed to install gnome-terminal do not
produce a working application:

andy@doughnut:~$ gnome-terminal
GLib-GIO-Message: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend.  Your settings will not 
be saved or shared with other applications.

ERROR:terminal-app.c:1449:terminal_app_init: assertion failed:

Aborted

I am not going to explore how much more of the whole of Gnome I need to
install to get the thing working.
