The plot thickens.

I have some movies in DivX format and I was told that I needed gst-ffmpeg in 
order for VLC to play these. gst-ffmpeg requires the gst base plugins which 
require gstreamer. That's why I installed all that stuff.

Are you saying that VLC will play these without any gst support?

I guess I should go away and try it.
