It is 7.4, and I followed the book with out deviation, I also have
installed many BLFS packages afterwards

I chose 3.3.9 because its listed as stable, but I guess I could try the
3.4.0.2 version.
and I stated it in a earlier email, I just checked for the heck of it
and it configured on the ubuntu system I used to host building LFS.
