So, if a problem only applies to my builds, it must be something different in *how* I build it. I remembered that _something_ in kde4 used to need a static lib, but I guess the fact kdelibs built the first time made me discount that. I'd also forgotten that kde/cmake tells you very little that is useful about how it is trying to link things. And I forget things from 4½ years ago. Thread at http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.lfs.beyond.devel/18284 eventually mentions libQtUiTools. Summary : I hide static libs until they are proved to be required, by renaming them to libwhatever.a.hidden. In regular programs (firefox, tk, xulrunner and also current yaboot) I occasionally see error messages referencing libwhatever and after a bit of looking around I usually see what needs to be done. This time it really did match my .sig - according to Wikipedia, Monday is/was the 23rd Vendémiaire in the French revolutionary calendar (I looked it up after being reminded of my earlier version of the sig from Marx's 18e Brumaire), and that day is associated with the Navet (Turnip) which is how I now feel ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_revolutionary_calendar ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, dieses Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
