Hi Patricia, I would check the HP website for updated drivers for the scanner, and see if there are any firmware revisions as well. As far as Openbook 8, I would check the FS website scanner page for compatibility. Hold on to that scanner for long as you can, legal size scanners are not cheap these days. You might also consider anMFD, multi-function device, or scanner with a document feeder. I am currently useing an MFD with a document feeder, and it will handle longer sheets of paper, although, I am not sure of the exact width.
