If you decide to look for a new scanner, there are a few duplex capable
models you might want to consider. This means that when using the sheet
feeder, the scanner will read both sides of the page at one time. These
scanners are in the $1000 to $1500 range. These are not to be confused with
the high speed scanners that cost $4000 to $7000. I believe that Cannon,
Kodak and Fujisu all have models in this lower price range.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Open Book 8 & Scanners?

Hi Patricia,
I would check the HP website for updated drivers for the scanner, and see if
there are any firmware revisions as well.
As far as Openbook 8, I would check the FS website scanner page for
compatibility.
Hold on to that scanner for long as you can, legal size scanners are not
cheap these days.
You might also consider anMFD, multi-function device, or scanner with a
document feeder.
I am currently useing an MFD with a document feeder, and it will handle
longer sheets of paper, although, I am not sure of the exact width.
