There are still many simplex flatbed scanners under $300, some around $100. Some of these scanners are slightly bigger then a laptop, and can be pretty portable. I provided you with the new duplex option as something to consider. We did a cost analysis at work and given the large amount of information an employee needed to scan, it was worth the $1200 we paid for the duplex scanner. It would take 3 times longer to scan his material on a simplex scanner then on a duplex scanner. So depending on what you need to scan, these are just some of the options to consider. Of course it always comes down to how much can you actually afford to spend.
