Sharon, I'm coming into this a bit late but maybe what I have to say is going to be helpful. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to disagree to some extent with Rick. There are indeed disks which are designed specifically for music files. In most cases, they are called music disks and have been formatted in some way to allow the best possible use of that kind of file. Usually, they are made by Memorex and BASF (B A S F) or even Maxell. CDR disks are not formatted and the PTR1 will not recognize them as "MUSIC DISKS" and will not record the files in the manner you need.
CDR DISKS: The only difference between them and CDRW disks is that the user can add files at a later time to a CDRW where that is not possible with a CDR disk which allows only 1 session. I had the same trouble with a PTR1 that you are experiencing. Unfortunately, only the disks which are clearly marked for music will be recognized by the PTR1. Sorry Rick. But the PTR1 is a picky animal and won't even allow music files to be recorded on anything except these special disks. It keeps trying to treat them like chapters of a book.
