Hi Patricia, As joseph said, it doesn't matter what brand you get, and the drive gets recognised by xp instantly. however, some manufacturors provide a CD rom in the box. In my case, the CD has backup software on it, allowing you to backup your files and folders to the external drive. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think this is usually the case.
