It was a Western Digital Mybook 500 gb for approximately $139 at Stables and
it had a usb cable to connect to the computer and a power cord. However, it
did not require software and as I wrote in my first email, it was recognized
both by my old computer running XP and now it works just as well with my
computer running Vista.

Would you mind sharing whaere you purchased this hard drive from? I know
you said it was a plug and use. Are you saying that there was no power
cord? Just wanted to make sure I understood what you are saying. Thanks
for sharing the information.
