I think you are confusing a workbook  with worksheets . . In my Excel 2003
at least pressing control plus N creates a new workbook.  By default each
workbook will have 3 worksheet . These are laid out in a tabbed format at
the bottom of the Excel workbook. As you say pressing control page up and
page down will navigate between these different worksheets in any workbook.

I have always pressed, control N while in an existing worksheet to create a new one and, reading over the keystrokes, I found that pressing control page

So is there a reason for 2 such keystrokes or is it just a matter of
prefference?

I sure do love this Excel 2003 it does automatically what I had to select to

do in version 2000.
