This is what happens. You'll be on line or something. And the audio just
totally stops. Your computer crashes. When you try to restart it re-starts
and it works well for a sighted person. But there is n0o Audio. Yesterday
my oldest daughter spent about 3 hours on the phone with them. I am the one
that figured out an easier resolution. They said run a System Recovery. I
ran a completed System Restore. After that it asked me to insert the
Recovery disks for the Audio files. And this is after my daughter went on
line with their technicians and got those drivers. Those don't work
correctly with it. You need the ones from the disk. When you are
re-installing them from the disks, a pop up comes up telling you about an
incompatibility and if you continue this will re-occur in the future. I
still continued anyway. It made my computer work again. So I called the
manufacturer and told them about it. They said they were aware of it and
there was nothing you or they can do about it. So this morning the same
thing happened all over again. If I want it to work correctly I have to
Do the same thing all over again. It requires sighted assistance and I am
not trying to do this over and over every other day. It is hard enough for
some of us blind people to get sighted assistance. So I am returning it to
Best Buy in a little while. I am getting a Toshiba with the same specs for
$349.99. They also offer the option to upgrade to 2GB of RAM. HP could not
offer me that option. This is why I am going with Toshiba.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Important Asus Netbook Users

Hello Rogelio.
SinceI just received my asus netbook on Wednesday, could you tell us what
the problem with the audio is and what happens with it when you either play
something? and; why didn't they test this out before they released the
product outto the public. Is the other computer that you are going to
purchase, have the same keyboard configuration as the asus had? Thanks for
informing us of this situation.
