You should also note that hard drive manufactures tend to lie some what 
regarding disk capacity numbers but only technically. What I mean is for 
example my external 320 MB drive does offer 320,000,000 MB of space using 
the base 10 system of mathematics. Computers on the other side of that coin 
use the base 2 system as in zeros and ones. So using that criteria that 
particular drive is only a 298 GB model.

before I partitioned it. Once partitioned and OS installed
